Haiku

                            Haiku

1. Dark
The path is gone;
lost in darkness, no way out.
Flash light’s dead.

2.Tears
Tears appear,
running down an old shirt:
it doesn’t stretch.

3.Memory
Dried leaves brown
between old pages
share a colour.

4. Expectations
Caffeinated air:
a promise of
Starbucks.

5. Two roads
Which path to take?
Robert Frost will
elaborate.

6. Waiting
Water drops drip
through cracked metal:
an old bus stop.

7. Heaven
Bare foot brothers;
summoned by the lone Bilal.
Friday prayers.

8. Childhood
When being wrong
meant a patronizing pat
and candy.

9. Annoyance
Summer nights outside
need bug spray and music:
buzzing mosquitoes.

10. Silence
Still grass,
no wind blows —
quiet summer.

11. Stripes
Urban zebras,
a jay-walker’s foe:
road crossings.

12. Vacation
Scorching  sand
with beach bums dancing
towards shade.

13. Night
Moonless night,
the muggy air
chokes.

14. Deep in Thought
Thinker statue’s
pigeon presents cleaned
by melting snow.

15. Flowers
Bloom and bark
how strange
old and new are one.

16. Traps
Spider silk
so fine to men
steel to insects

17. Pen and Paper
Dead mail storage,
a graveyard
love stories left unwritten.

18. Food
Mother’s alchemy
yesterday’s leftovers
now today’s lunch.

19. Introduction
Uncomfortable—
the silence before you say
“Hi” to a stranger.

20. Magic
“Abracadabra”
will not make her reappear,
love’s magic is gone.

21.
summer's dawn
flings brilliant lances
against darkness

22.
Aphrodite's moon-
smooth curves rise
to greet me

23.
a single berry
peeking from the cleft
between smooth stones

24.
earthy scent-
planting tulips
in a fertile garden

25.
lithe and supple
a single root probes
deep into soil

26.
indigo sky-
a solitary spark
nurtures my wish

27.
distant rumblings-
loved ones sought
and found

28.
tingling heat
skin-dancing-
melting the haze

29.
heads hidden
amber shoulders
nudge the clouds

30.
sickbed-
watching the sunrise
through gritty eyes

31.
dew drops-
a  flower's gift
on my fingers

32.
busy scissors
hair falls like leaves
sweat trickles

33.
tracing edges-
pink petals
part with a breath

34.
auburn horizon
fading glow-
a missing voice

35.
tails twined-
back to back to back
surveying the realm

36.
in a dream
sucking a summer berry
dipped in cream

37.
distant reach-
trailing moist fingers
across the moon

38.
radiant sky-
moonbeams touch me
and her

39.
tempest passes
vines remain-
still embracing

40.
a convergence of curves-
nature's enticement

41.
fading echo
in darkness-
soft dove call

42.

light into shadow-
a golden finger
touches
vine and tree trunk
rendezvous-
perpetual embrace

43.

blood moon-
I drink in
its magnificence

44.
distant call-
bright eyes seek
to bridge miles

45.
breath
become effort
repeated

46.
heavy air
reposed
on a waking body

47.
heat-
pressing in
seeping out

48.
trimming the hedge-
excitement of discovery

49.
tender breeze
a familiar voice
enfolds me

50.
golden rays
trickling warmly
on bare skin
